Non-drug Methods of Cephalogia Therapy: a Review

ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION. Headache is one of the most common neurological disorders, which significantly reduces the quality of life of patients and has a negative impact on their social activity.

AIM. To analyze the literature of domestic and foreign authors describing the modern understanding of non-drug methods of treating primary headaches.

MATERIALS AND METHODS. An analysis of the literature for the period from 2014-2024 was conducted. The sources of the Russian scientific electronic library eLIBRARY, RCSI databases, PubMed were used.

DISCUSSION. The article is devoted to the review of modern non-drug methods of therapy of cephalgias, aimed at improving the quality of life of patients and minimizing side effects from long-term use of drugs. The review considers various approaches, including physiotherapy, acupuncture, massage, psychotherapy, relaxation techniques and lifestyle changes. Their effectiveness, safety and potential advantages in comparison with traditional drug methods are analyzed. Particular attention is paid to modern trends and prospects for the development of non-drug therapy, as well as possible directions for further research in this area.

CONCLUSION. The conducted literature review shows that non-drug methods of treating cephalgia occupy an important place in the comprehensive program of treatment and prevention of headaches. It is important to note that the choice of method depends on the individual characteristics of the patient, the type of headache and its causes. Further study of the effectiveness and safety of non-drug methods of treating cephalgia, as well as their combination with traditional methods of treatment, will improve the level of medical care for patients with headaches.
