We are pleased to present to you the scientific and practical medical journal Comorbidity Neurology. Major advances in fundamental research in pathophysiology, genetics, immunology, pathomorphology, and pharmacology over the past century have made it possible to increase life expectancy in patients with chronic non-communicable diseases. Nevertheless, their prevention and treatment have been designated by the World Health Organization as a priority project for the first half of the 21st century, aimed at improving the quality of life of the population. Along with the increase in life expectancy, there has been a largely expected rise in the number of patients with multiple chronic diseases. This trend has led to the introduction into real clinical practice of such terms as comorbidity, multimorbidity, polypathies, and others.

Today, we are witnessing the emergence of a fundamentally new interdisciplinary field—Comorbidity Neurology—and this is no coincidence. Many fundamental and practical issues related to comorbidity in neurological patients require in-depth discussion. First of all, this concerns the following aspects:

- dissatisfaction among specialists with the current results of studies on risk factors, mechanisms of development of comorbid diseases, and the characteristics of their phenotypes;

- clinical and pathogenetic heterogeneity of comorbid diseases and conditions;

- the lack of fundamental research results within the framework of systems biology and systems medicine, which hampers the development of classifications of comorbid diseases and the creation of new models of healthcare delivery for this group of patients;

- the discrepancy between real-world clinical practice (multimorbidity) and the results of clinical trials of medicinal products conducted in “highly selected” patient populations with a single disease;

- inevitable polypharmacy in comorbid conditions and its severe consequences, as well as the lack of scientifically substantiated, evidence-based approaches to reducing medication burden without increasing the risk of decreased treatment efficacy.

The aim of the scientific and practical journal "Comorbidity Neurology" is to highlight the current state of issues related to comorbidity in clinical neurology and related disciplines. The journal will have a strong practical focus. We plan to cover modern approaches to diagnosis, differential diagnosis, and treatment of pain disorders, anxiety and depressive spectrum disorders, insomnia and asthenia, dizziness, as well as neurodegenerative and cerebrovascular diseases of the brain and spinal cord in patients with a wide range of chronic non-communicable diseases. The pages of our journal will present interesting clinical cases, as well as up-to-date information on Russian and international neurological congresses and conferences. Comorbid Neurology is a peer-reviewed scientific and practical journal that welcomes original research articles and review papers, clinical case reports, and expert commentaries.

We are open to productive and mutually beneficial cooperation and partnership with representatives of various academic schools, research areas, and medical specialties in order to create a unified information platform dedicated to the field of comorbid neurology.
